Padel is currently the fastest-growing trend in sports construction, often called “Social Tennis.” For SVD Sports Construction, this is a high-ticket project because it involves heavy structural engineering, tempered glass installation, and precise civil work.

Unlike other courts, a Padel court is a fully enclosed “cage” where the walls are part of the game.

1. The Padel Blueprint (FIP Standards)

A Padel court is smaller than a tennis court but requires more vertical infrastructure.

  • Court Dimensions: $20\text{m} \times 10\text{m}$ (Playing area).
  • Total Footprint: Recommended $21\text{m} \times 11\text{m}$ to account for the structural pillars and ring beam.
  • The Walls: * Back Walls: $3\text{m}$ high glass + $1\text{m}$ mesh fencing (Total $4\text{m}$).
    • Side Walls: A combination of glass ($3\text{m}$) and metallic mesh fencing.
  • Ceiling Height (Indoor): Minimum $6\text{m}$ clear height, though $8\text{m}$ is preferred for professional lobs.

2. Civil Engineering: The “Ring Beam” Strategy

As a Civil Engineer, you’ll appreciate that the glass walls weigh over 3 tons. You cannot simply “bolt them into thin concrete.”

The Foundation Options

  • Reinforced Ring Beam: A $400\text{mm}$ wide concrete beam around the perimeter. This is where the structural steel posts are chemically anchored.
  • Full Reinforced Slab: For rooftop or premium installations, a $15\text{cm} – 20\text{cm}$ thick reinforced concrete slab is used to ensure zero movement (which prevents glass from cracking).
  • Tolerance: The surface must be incredibly flat, with a maximum deviation of only $3\text{mm}$ over $3\text{meters}$.

Drainage (Crucial for Outdoor Courts)

Padel courts must have a 1% gradient or a porous sub-base. Since the glass walls act as a “dam,” you must design drainage channels outside the perimeter to prevent water from pooling inside the “cage.”

3. Structural Components & Materials

Your fabrication skills are the biggest selling point here.

  • Glass Walls: Use 10mm or 12mm Tempered Safety Glass (EN 12150-1 standard). 12mm is recommended for outdoor courts to handle wind loads.
  • Steel Structure: Hot-dip galvanized steel frames to prevent rust (vital for the humid climate in AP/Telangana).
  • Panoramic vs. Classic: * Classic: Has vertical steel pillars between glass panels.
    • Panoramic: No pillars between the back glass panels, offering a clear view for spectators (very popular for clubs).
  • Turf: Specialized Padel turf is shorter ($10\text{mm} – 12\text{mm}$) and denser than football turf, filled with fine kiln-dried silica sand.

4. Lighting & Electrical

  • Standard: 8 LED floodlights (200W each) mounted on 6-meter high poles (often integrated into the court structure).
  • Lux Level: 300 Lux for recreation, 500+ Lux for tournaments.
  • Anti-Glare: Ensure the lights are angled to avoid blinding players during overhead smashes (Bandejas).

“We don’t just build courts; we engineer play. SVD Sports Construction provides the structural integrity of a high-rise with the precision of a pro-circuit arena.”
